Ancient Roman Milan: the capital of the Western Roman Empire

Unexpected and gorgeous. Unmissable for smart wanderers.

History has deposited layer after layer of time on the streets we walk today.  Book your private guided tour now

I have conceived this tour to show an unexpected Milan that goes back to the time when its name was Mediolanum in the 2nd century B.C. to the period it became the capital of the Imperial Court from 286-402 A.D.
Things change and today we must be able to read the stones that speak to us:

  • the tower of the Circus was transformed into a bell tower from where today you enjoy a wonderful view of Milan,
  • over the ancient roman Theatre, it was built the Stock Exchange, the Borsa
  • the gigantic columns of a Temple where used as an atrium for the Basilica of S. Lawrence
  • and the very heart of the ancient Milan, the forum, saw the birth of the Fascism in the 20s.

If you wish to see the Duomo square before the building of the Duomo, come and join me in this private guided walking tour and you will be surprised to discover the origin of the today Milan.

Duration: 3,5/4 hours.

The tour is completely customized.
