The village Orta is a maze of picturesque streets and narrow cobbled lanes, flanked by old stone walls whose doorways are topped with triangular architraves. The spectacular island of Saint Julius faces the village a short distance away and it is dominated by the namesake Romanesque Basilica. Verona winds gently on the banks of the river Adige.

In its urban structure and its architecture, Verona is an outstanding example of a town that has developed progressively and uninterruptedly over 2,000 years, this is the reason why it has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The Roman theatre was built in the 1st century BC and its semicircular seating area is still used today for performances.
